STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Location: Charlotte, NC

Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join its Charlotte, NC office. This position plays a critical role in supporting the firm's accounting operations by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and internal policies, and providing timely financial information to support business decisions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the firm's accounting operations through accurate general ledger maintenance, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, operating budgets, and annual financial statement audits.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, including tracking additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
  • Support and gain proficiency in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and trust accounting processes.
  • Prepare annual property tax returns and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and provide reporting support to assist with business and operational decisions.
  • Collaborate with accounting leadership on special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture while maintaining regular in-office attendance and delivering exceptional internal customer service.
  • Maintains regular, in-person attendance to support the collaborative nature of the role.
  • Performs additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Director of Accounting.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; 1+ years’ experience in Public Accounting and/or law firm experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • General understanding of IRS regulations and GAAP principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • The work is primarily sedentary.
  • It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • The work at times requires bending, squatting, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights.
